Frederic studied for two years in a nursing program before deciding to commit fully to studies on TCM and acupuncture in 1995 at the Institute of Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture of Canada. In 1999, he graduated and started working full time under his teacher Prof. Cedric Cheung at the Institute in London, Ontario. For 13 years, Frederic gained priceless experience treating patients seven days a week. His teacher remarked often enough how experience gained in clinical practice is not taught in books. In addition, Frederic learned about the “healing heart” from his teacher, which is the understanding of how the healing of the patient comes from within and that a true doctor supports the patient with sincerity, compassion and devotion.

In 2007, Frederic took and passed the International Acupuncture Examination in Beijing, China. He had learned from various masters over the years. The mentality of ‘Always the student’ is part of the cultivation in Chinese medicine that allows us to grow with humility and wisdom.

Frederic continues to practice medicine at our clinic 5 days a week. Previously, he provided TCM treatments once a week for mental health at the Canadian Mental Health Association -Durham. He was also part of the teaching faculty at the Ontario College of Traditional Chinese Medicine, which offers a ‘Registered Acupuncturist’ and ‘Registered Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioner’ diploma in Markham. He also precepts students from other TCM schools.

Frederic is also a long-standing supporting member of the Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture Association of Canada (CMAAC).

He regularly plays volleyball and practices yoga, qigong, and meditation for rejuvenation. His life motto is to be true to who he is and keep life simple as possible - and patients love him for his straightforwardness and sense of humour!

Since 1996, Jane has been practising Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture. She first practised with her family in London at the Institute of Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture, a clinic - and later a Traditional Chinese Medicine school for twelve years -which was established in 1972 by her parents. So over the years, Jane grew up appreciating this wonderful ancient medicine that has benefited so many families in the community. In fact, most of them have been “referred” via word of mouth.

Her education consisted of a Bachelor of Science from the University of Western Ontario and a diploma in Traditional Chinese Medicine at the Institute. She then travelled to China where she completed her clinical internship at several TCM hospitals in China, followed by successfully passing ‘Level A’ for the International Acupuncture Examination in Beijing, China. Upon returning to Canada, she moved to the Durham region to settle her own TCM practice at the Oshawa Clinic where she has remained since. Her father (at age 76), to this day, continues to practice at the same location in London, ON, where he also mentors TCM students from various schools. The dedication from both parents has inspired her commitment to the practice of TCM. Other mentors that has influenced her practice over the years included Prof. Zhu Qing-Ming, Taoist Master Jeffrey Yuen, Ann Cecil-Sterman, and Andrew Sterman.

In addition to her clinical practice in Oshawa, Jane is one of the many passionate advocates for the TCM community in Canada. As a proactive member of the Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture Association of Canada, Jane is excited to be working towards expanding the acceptance of TCM in integrative healthcare via media campaigns and through associations with Insurance Providers and major health organizations, like WHO (World Health Organization). She continues to look forward in connecting with her community in promoting the health benefits that TCM/A can offer. In the past, Jane has accomplished this via her roles as Vice-President (External Relations, CMAAC) and co-organizer of the World Federation of Acupuncture-Moxibustion Societies (WFAS) International Acupuncture Symposium at Toronto in 2015.

Jane had also taken a role as one of the Advisors for the Humber College TCM Program. Humber is the first publicly-funded postsecondary institution in Ontario to offer a comprehensive three-year traditional Chinese medicine program. She has also participated in consultations with other TCM schools.

All above could not been achieved without the support of her husband Wei-Hsi and the family (her three little musketeers Sarah, Emma, and Aaron), her brother Frederic, and the patients and community that continues to inspire her each day. She balances her family life with quality time as much as possible and shares her sense of adventure and fun with the family in ‘living in the moment’ through travels, music, learning new things, and laughing together, as the key to true happiness. She keeps herself active through hiking, tai chi, qi gong, and bike commuting to work.
